Animal Chin: 30 Years Later

by

Skating the original Animal Chin ramp with the original Bones Brigade

The Search For Animal Chin is probably the most iconic skate video of all time. Released in 1987, it was the third Powell-Peralta video to document the original Bones Brigade – Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, Tommy Guerrero and Lance Mountain – and the first skate video to ever feature a proper storyline. The most memorable part of the video, though, was undoubtedly the ramp session at the end. The Animal Chin ramp was by far the biggest ever constructed at the time, and single-handedly changed the way ramp design was approached from that point forward, thus having a major effect on the future direction of the sport.

30 years since the original ramp was torn down forever, Tony Hawk decided it was time a replica was finally built. Now housed permanently at Woodward West, this video documents the original Bones Brigade as they session the replica ramp together for the first time, the same way they did 30 years ago, with the aim of re-shooting their iconic 'group invert' photo on the spine. Every minute of this video will leave you with a smile on your face – these guys truly are the definition of legends, and are each still killing it today. Enjoy the ride.
