I still have a nice size egg and chunk of skin missing from my left shin after some muppet run into me at Bluecow with their board a couple of weeks ago.  Obvious beginner turned and noticed they were heading towards me, got closer, panicked and did the classic look at exactly what you’re trying to avoid mistake that beginners do. Sat down on his arse as a last ditch attempt to miss me which resulted in him ramming the nose of his board into my shin.

All this took about 3 seconds whilst travelling at maybe 20kmh, I think all I managed to say was WTF before he was left behind.  If I’d had a look at the mess he made of my shin at the bottom I woulda waited around to give him a full serve but as it was it wasn’t till I took my boots off at the car.  Big egg and a 10c piece chunk of skin missing, dickheads.

Dyldo took out one of ouzr buddies at full speed in winter, that resulted in a few stithes on his knee and a hole in his pants, thermals and socks!

Try the same thing except impacted across the thighs (hubby on knees videoing friends coming down the mountain) when it’s freshly serviced race skis ridden by a 6’5 120kg ex racer man mountain.  Initial thoughts were broken femurs, but it was just a slash through the new ski pants, chunk out of the leg and an impressive amount of blood.
wink bloody skiers wink

My first season; a workmate was messing about and doing a handstand with his board on, lost balance (as you do), fell and clocked a bystander in the forehead.

The bystander ended up with a good gash and was taken to hospital. She was a good looking girl (even with a few stitches). She ended up going home early and her holiday shortend due to concussion - she had to leave her car in Smiggins.

The workmate volunteered to drive the car back to Sydney I joined him. We organised some replacement accom for later in the season for her.

Workmate ended up dating her and last I knew they were travelling as a couple working at different holiday destinations.

to tl;dr, to score a girl hit her in the head with your board so she needs stiches. wink lol

But seriously, pretty kewl story.

Ugh… what a day yesterday.

Went to Buller, only managed to do 1/2 a day due to my new boots.

I put my superfeet greens into the ZF1’s I got, but by midday that numbness killed me.
We went back to the car for luck and I got out of the boots, but my (lack of) arches were DESTROYING ME.
I couldn’t even stand on my left foot. I had to call it and stayed in the car falling asleep whilst the others enjoyed themselves for a few more hours.

I was kicking myself for not bringing my other boots, but at this stage after 4 hours of boarding, it wouldn’t have made a difference.

When I thought about it, I kicked myself more as the exact same thing happened in Whistler when I was breaking in my DK’s. I ended up using softer support insoles and it was okay after. Can’t believe that I totally forgot! I was walking around back then ouching every step!!!!
I think I’m going again in 2 weeks so I’ll have to take it easy and experiment here….
