A snowboarder in the making (with TR)

Avatar

So I was lucky enough to have Friday off last week and headed to my parents for a super long weekend with my friend and her almost 5yo.

On Friday we headed to Thredbo and went up Kozi chair and had hot chocolate! It was the most expensive Hot Choc ever since we then turned around and got straight on a chair back down as the wind was bitterly, bitterly cold! Wish we had of checked the weather before heading up as maybe Saturday was less windy. But you can never really tell from Jindy!
Interestingly Thredbo now have a “flow track” near the village green

On Saturday we headed up to Perisher. On a whim we headed down the road to Guthega. Then on even more of a whim we decided to drive “Summer Road”. It was interesting to see Blue Cow from the other side (and without snow!) I actually had no idea where the road came out at Smigs, I thought it was at the gate at the top of Smigs but it came out near the end of the car park.

Rollercoaster straight ahead.

And Ridge Chair

And where the road came out at Smigs

In the morning before we left the house I had the brilliant idea of trying Cardboard Soap Boxing.

I say brilliant but really it was not so brilliant. I think a combo of things made it not work! (soap just doesn’t seem like what it was when I was a kid!

This is Max giving me a helping hand!

But then we gave up on that and decided to ‘surf’ down the mountain. I was really impressed with Max, there was a sweet spot you needed to be in to get the box to slide. You could tell the moment “Max” got it. But he couldn’t figure out “how” to get it again. Shame as he looked really comfortable getting sideways!

Oh and I managed to get sideways as well!

How weird is Blue Cow in the summer! It doesn’t go green in the summer like Canada does unfortunately. Not enough rain maybe.

I worked up there one summer as a lift fitter. It’s kinda nice up there when it’s not 100km/h winds and your up a lift tower lol.

Looks like you had fun. I think you’re grubbing for sideways points, by standing on cardboard… but minor points are awarded wink

It’s improved heaps!

Your jeans look baggy from all the weight you’ve lost - go shopping. kiss

The Flow Track will be interesting when it snows in the village - but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets flattened for winter. Props to whoever in Thredbo implemented the construction, the local kids often meet on the village green with their bikes. Some have even held MTB themed birthday parties there.

Nice Oz!

Very cool seeing ridge and rollercoaster again (has me itching for some first tracks Sundays).

Riding a piece of cardboard face first… not so cool tongue wink

We used to at collaroy.. ( the park at the beach has that hill from the road that’s all grassy.. Was heaps fun.. Although best thing.. Maccas trays down the slides! Haha you get like super speed!!

Yeah I don’t think front valley was steep enough. I used to do it on my Nan’s front lawn. It was pretty steep!

But at Perisher the steeper runs aren’t mowed. Its amazing how bushy and over grown other runs are! - They wouldn’t need so much snow to open runs if they were all mowed! LOL
