NoVo - GPH3B on steroids!

Avatar

Wouldn’t it be great if you could mount a lens to your GoPro Hero 3 camera or set the exposure manually? It surely would, but sadly, it aint possible. The good news is, there’s a walkaround - a new camera by GoPro called “Novo”. This new product should be a much better choice for filmmakers and those who plan to shoot some awesome action footage - Nova not only features the same specs as the GoPro Hero 3, but also a a C-Mount lens system with back focus adjustment which allows to mount many lenses to the camera and extreme macro shooting is now also possible. What’s more the camera allows to turn off the auto focus feature, so you can set the aperture manually. There are more changes - the new body is 20% thinner and includes three 1/4-20 and two 10-32 mounting points, there are also programmable buttons. The key features of the original GoPro Hero are still here, so you get a touchscreen LCD panel and WiFi support.

are we sure this isn’t an April Fool’s joke?

Well first posts about it were back in Feb..  So I’m assuming not..

also I don’t think its intended to be mounted to a helmet, etc… Like the gopro..

more of a mini p&s/camcorder?

It’s no April fools joke.
The first post here I copied from an article 2 weeks old.

A bit better than a “mini P&S” h0z, it’s obviously not meant for head mounting or use as a GoPro - few right minded people would subject their good lenses to that abuse.
There would be a market for those that wont pay the hire fee for RED cameras.

I love the concept of having near nothing attached to a lens.
Feels like I’m looking at the future of cinematography.
Using a GoPro for this purpose I believe to be another exercise in marketing and not the future arriving early.
