Jean Giraud (1938-2012), AKA Moebius, was a French artist, cartoonist and writer known for his innovative style. He is considered to be one of the most influential fantasy artists of the 20th Century. During his career, Moebius worked on several legendary graphic novels, helped create the science fiction magazine Metal Hurlant (renamed Heavy Metal in the US), and contributed concept art to multiple iconic films such as Alien, Tron, and The Fifth Element.
In the late 1980s, Moebius painted a stand-alone collection of Marvel heroes. He also worked on a two-part Silver Surfer story with Stan Lee. These works are highly regarded for their unique take on classic Marvel characters.
