CALLING AUSTRALIAN PHOTOGRAPHERS TO RECYCLE THEIR MEMORIES

Two of Australia’s leading photographers Daniel Boud (Boudist) and Cybele Malinowski (Blue Murder Studios) are calling on all Australian photographers to ‘recycle their photographic memories and their old mobiles’ as part of The Memory Muster, a mobile phone recycling initiative launched by not-for-profit mobile phone recycling program, MobileMuster.

The Memory Muster is a campaign designed to keep the 22 million old mobile phones lying around in the homes and businesses of Australian out of landfill.

To be a part of it is simple. You upload 6 of your favourite images, recycle your old mobile phone and then you receive those six images back in the form of a set of premium postcard prints. These images can then be submitted into The Memory Muster photograph competition.

“Anyone with a passion for photography and the environment should be involved in this initiative,” states Cybele Malinowski.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase your work as well as do some good for our planet.”

From now until the 31st of December, a number of lucky Australian photographers have the chance to have their work published nationally and exhibited at a special event showcasing the nation’s favourite memories.

The images will sit alongside those of Memory Muster’s official ambassadors, Professional Surfer Laura Enever, AFI Award Winning Actor Gyton Grantley and Singer / Songwriter Lisa Mitchell, who will also select the winning images from the three categories:

1. Nature and Beauty: Laura Enever
2. Family and Friends: Gyton Grantley
3. Love and Life: Lisa Mitchell

“Our (Dan and Cybele) involvement in Memory Muster is one out of necessity,”

“Every small bit we can do to reduce our imprint on this earth is paramount and we recognise the importance of this valuable cause.”

“There are almost 22 million unused mobiles lying around in drawers and cupboards across Australia.”

“Dig them out, drop them off to MobileMuster and upload your pics – I’m looking forward to seeing what we as a nation can muster up.” adds Dan Boud.

Boud and Malinowski will officially curate the photographs and select their top five images in each category with each ambassador selecting the winning image. All winners and finalists will be showcased at the official exhibition to be held in Sydney during January 2013.

To be a part of The Memory Muster photography competition is simple:
• Upload your six most compelling images of your favourite memories at memorymuster.mobilemuster.com.au, and
• Recycle your old mobile phone with MobileMuster – just follow the directions on the website

Entries to the Memory Muster photographic competition close on 31st of December.
