MANTON SKATE SALE

Avatar

Don’t know if anyone has seen this yet but I was checking the Manton site. Well here’s the link and you guys can see the deals that I am talking about.

http://mantonskateboards.com.au/

Ridiculously cheap and value I tell you. Get on board (yes cheap pun) and support Aussie guys and enjoy some wood.

am thinking of buying a deck through ebay for a learner/transport (lost my license (again) for speeding).

Deck will be either Element or Enjoi which will later become a wall piece. but how do the trucks (Manton Raw) and bearings (ABEC 9) hold up??? are they any good?
I used to skate back in the 90’s, of which the tech has undoubtedly changed a lot, but I prefer buying quality/durability compared to short term items that will start to wear considerably in short time. For example Razor v MGP. MGP is the clear winner but costs abit more.

Intend to buy in the next day or so, so a prompt reply would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Hey b3nje909. Welcome to Boardworld.

How much are you looking at spending for a board. With Enjoi or Element they can be a bit of an expensive purchase. Enjoi do some decent decks but I don’t really trust the Element decks.

I have been speaking to Matt from Manton and he has put a tonne of research and development behind his product. The cheaper end of his products seem to be good quality without the price tag, especially the fact that some of the decks are now $39.99 or $99.99 for a complete.

Other than that if you want the top notch quality that he has. Look at the SAF decks and Titanium trucks. Complete research and development behind the product and the deck has been skated by Mitch Faber. He loved it and didn’t break it, which is rare for Mitch. The Titanium trucks are a good product and are made in the same factory as some big name companies. So for the money that you would be spending on the SAF complete you are definitely getting quality.

Check some footage of Mitch. No board snaps in this one but shows how big he goes.

Hey CJ
Cheers for the prompt response.
I’ve seen Matts web page and his decks, but apart from the Lego one (which Is hilarious), the graphic style is not to my taste. I prefer big bold colours, and solid contrasting colours. Each to their own eh??

Anyway, after your element comment I’ve narrowed it down to two, which hopefully “cut and pastes” properly on an iPhone..

As u can see for both. They only have the stock standard Raw Mantons, not SAF variants.

But, then there is this, which comes with Cargos. Probably not the best truck in the world but atleast I can find reviews/opinions on them, of which most are favourable. (and they come in various colours too lol)

So that’s my dilemma. I realise it’s hard for new local company’s to get started in a very brand competitive world. Plus I’m not exactly rich, but don’t mind spending money either, on the same token, if I can save $50 then I will.

Thoughts?

(edit, I have no idea why the boardshop link isn’t working, bah stupid iPhones)

Welcome to Boardword, b3nje909. cool smile

I deleted the eBay links and added images. We don’t allow eBay links on the forums. This is to protect the authorised retail stores in Australia.

Enjoy the forums and best of luck with your skateboard purchase.

Yeah ok sweet.

I’ve got a feelin tho them two eBay links where for Manton skateboards anyway, or his eBay account anyway. But no worries.
Emailed a shop today hoping for swift delivery tomorrow but no reply.. Looks like I have to wait to the new year when I’m back at work for my new wheels.

In my personal opinion trucks are where you want to spend the money. Reason being is that a set of good quality trucks will last you years. They will turn better, grind better and the better quality mean less problems as well. Some of the cheaper trucks use a very cheap and nasty method of manufacturing, where trucks will literally just break.
For the price the Manton raws are still some good trucks with the bushing quality as well. Also they provide the correct size truck for the deck your after. The cargo trucks don’t. I am sure if you have any problems Manton will back you up.
Some other options that are good but will sent you back a bit more. These would all be in the raw finish for the cheaper option. Destructos, Destructo D2’s, Theeve, Thunder and Venture.

Deck arrived today (actually yesterday but we learnt out unit buzzer doesn’t work).
It’s like a piece of art, and I don’t want to damage it lol. The different colour grains of ply are a nice touch.
I’ll take it down out local park later (Parramatta for those Sydney Siders amongst us), and damage my beautiful deck as well as hurt myself in the process haha!
I’d consider a review, but in all honesty, given I am a total n00b @ skating, I’m not really sure I know what I am talking about.

Hey b3nje909, I had one of those Enjoi decks. I really liked the shape of it and the attention to detail. Looks like a nice setup to go out rolling on mate.

Welcome back Butch. I tell you what I do miss setting up stupid amounts of skateboards. Glad you had a good run over the busy period mate.
