Gloves?

Hey guys,
Just a quick 1, does anyone recommend mitten type gloves to normal finger type? Advantages/disadvantages??
Cheers!

its mostly just personal preference. For me, mittens are heaps warmer, but the down side is that you lose a bit of coordination with being able to use your fingers for stuff like zipping pockets and whatnot.

Yeah generally personal preference. I have gloves but I’m still hopeless with zips etc.

More important is to get a decently waterproofed glove/mitten. In my case I got a pair of Dakine Goretex gloves which come with a seperate pair of liners and they served me well as a beginner who spent plenty of time with my hands in the snow.

Mitts vs gloves = warmth vs dexterity.

Whatever you get, just make sure they are Gore-Tex.

ive always worn mittens but that choice was because i have to wear a wrist guard on one of my wrists due to a very nasty break from a skateboard incident. A minor fall can cause me some pain issues. The doc/specialist says it can be fixed but it will involve fuseing bones and limiting my wrist movement. Ill hold off on that till im older.  With mittens im able to wear the wrist guard underneath the glove instead of it on the outside, thinking about it, it probably doesnt make a difference if i did wear it on the outside, it would just get wet.
anyhow ramble over, as others suggested whatever you decided, gore-tex is your friend smile

I have and dont want any more dakine bronco jpwalker gloves. They are gore tex gloves. These gloves are hopeless, not that waterproof and not really warm. thinking of getting pow mittens or burton akmittens

That’s it.  I had Mittons when I lived in Colorado, loved them on the really actic days- Do prefer gloves but the price is they get wet/cold faster

If you’re really torn between the two, you could always get split mits smile
I had some Ronins for a while and now Finney is rocking the exact same pair I used to have.
A split mit (if u haven’t seen one) is a mit with one finger split instead of a split for every finger.
Just make sure u get one with a split for the index finger, cause they also make ones split between the middle fingers… which only helps if you’re a really big fan of making the Spock sign with your hands oh oh

Mitts only! hands down!
So warm.. and with gloves there to clunky you have to pull them off to do anything like cell phones or eating.
so might as well have a mitt.. its a lazy boy for your fingers!

My extremities always get very very cold, so i prefer mittens because my fingers can share their heat with each other.

And don’t get me started on my toes.

Just looking at the current gloves range at the stores in Whistler, my ultimate picks would be the Burton AK Clutch Glove or the Dakine Cobras (leather). Both are awesome, low profile, warm, Gore-Tex gloves.
