After a design and production process that reportedly spanned nearly 3 years – with no detail too fine and no stone unturned – the NM933 by Andrew Reynolds is finally set to hit Australian skate shops this coming Tuesday, May 6.
The release process for this shoe is like none we've ever been involved with. The first year's worth of stock – with numerous colourways set to release in 2025 – was bought entirely 'blind' in an effort for the shoe's design to remain fully under wraps. In other words, we didn't even know what product we'd be stocking until the curtain was officially unveiled to the public almost 12 months later. But with Reynolds attached to the project, we knew the shoe would be nothing short of exceptional.
What we ended up with is the most technically sound skate shoe in the New Balance lineup, and quite possibly one of the most detail-focused skate shoes of all time, blending New Balance's athletic tech and style elements with the best of its skate shoe reinforcement.
"I made it a mix between a skate shoe and a runner", Reynolds told High Snobriety ahead of the release. "When I'm skating in the park, people say, 'Oh, you're skating in runners?' And that's sick. That's what I was hoping for."
This is a relatively rare case where the hype seems to be real. Following the US release last week, most sizes have sold out through official New Balance channels, with reviews incredibly positive from across the pond. And with even fewer units coming into Australia and no re-production planned for the initial colourways, this is one you'll want to jump on quickly.
The New Balance NM933 releases at Boardworld online and in-store at 10am on Tuesday, May 6.
