my weight is 70KG im not a begginer just thought of upgrading. i want something playful but stable at high speeds. open to suggestions aswell and i do need a wide board because my boots are quite stiff and every shop i went into suggest that i get a wide board.

I feel the Machete Wide will be too wide for you. It's not that you can't ride it, however it will most likely be unnecessarily sluggish edge to edge. The regular Machete is probably just a little too much on the narrow side.

I would look at something like the Burton Custom 154. The 252mm waist width will be fine for your size 11US boots. Honestly, you really don't need a wide board. Something around 252mm to 255mm should be ideal. The Burton Custom is an excellent do-it-all board and will serve you well for a long time as you progress.

If you're really worried, you could look at the Burton Custom Flying V 155W. It has a 256mm waist width and the Flying V camber profile. This could also be a nice option for you.

Otherwise, just look for a versatile 'all mountain freestyle' board, with a moderate flex pattern and waist somewhere between 252mm and 256mm. I have size 10.5 boots and have never ridden a wide and have never had toe drag.

Stores can often have the following reasons for recommending wide:
1. You are 15 and have a size 10 boot. In 2 years, it will be 13 and they want you to be able to keep the same board.
2. You said you should have a wide and therefore they go with what you say.
3. It looks like the boot is bigger than the board and therefore you need a wide.
4. They are retarded and don't know what they are talking about.
5. They have excess wide boards and want to get rid of them.

(I wouldn't be surprised if 4 is the case a lot of the time).

And while the store would like your repeat business, snowboarding is a sport where they probably make more 1 time sales than repeat sales.

Another thing is that snowboarding is probably 70% male customers. Average male foot size is 10ish so it would be stupid for the average snowboard not to fit everything from 7-11, maybe even 12 on the longer boards.

You could step up to the Custom 156 or Custom Flying V 156 (both these have a 253mm waist). I wouldn't go too much bigger at your weight. You're tall, but you're pretty light for your height. That size range is good for you; 158 is about the biggest you could ride now without it hindering your progression.

I guess it's a tough age to be buying gear. Are you still growing?

i went with the ride DH2 2011 156 Wide in the end. its a good all rounder board. the burton bullet is a bit more flexible for the park but i like doing all moutain freestyle with jumps and a bit of rail.

Haha Yh they are just right for my board but By the sounds of them they are good on any board
