Hi guys,
I'm looking at getting a new board and boots, I'm an intermediate rider looking to progress to the next level. Can anyone advise me on a new setup mainly for freeriding and park/pipe(all round) I'm going to Canada in February for 4 weeks am I better off buying it all there?
Cheers!!

What have you been riding and what did you/didn't you like about it? What bindings have you got? Have you any thoughts on rocker or hybrid camber boards or do you not have a preference? Personally I won't ride a cambered board again but there others who won't ride anything but. If you going to Canada for a month chances are you will get some pow and some form of rocker will probably be helpful especially if you ride switch a lot, with the rockered boards you can keep your stance centred and still float in the pow.

Welcome to Boardworld, Fatboy! cool smile

A few questions...

How much do you weigh? How tall are you? What size boots do you wear?

There are some awesome deals going around in Australia at the moment, plus you'll receive tax back at the airport (duty free).

P.S. I'm going to move this thread to Equipment and Products, so if you can't find it here, that's where it will be. smile

Boots....get in there and try stuff on, its the only way to do it
doing all the research in the world wont help you if the boot doesnt fit you properly

Board.....camber preference is personal
having tried reverse camber this year i think ill go back to camber (or at least a hybrid) for next

you will find Canada will have a lot more choices but i dont think it will be much cheaper
Like rider said, chances are you can find a pretty sweet deal at the moment in Australia due to being off season here, on top of that... TRS !!(tourist refund scheme) basically 10% cash back on purchases within 30 days of departure over $300 on a single invoice/receipt

Thanks for you're help guys!
I'm currently riding a 2001 Ride Profile 160 with new burton mission bindings and size 10 burton Moto boots which I was setup on as a beginner at 'Rhytym boardstore, Cooma. I'm 5'11" & 88kgs. The setup has been ok, but as I have progressed over the years I haven't ridden anything else so I don't know what to try.
What stores would anyone recommend around Sydney or online?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Cheers!

Check out STM for sure. 426 Oxford St, Bondi Junction. Tell them you are from Boardworld and they will look after you. By the way, the 10% discount is an additional 10% even on sale items. http://www.stmonline.com.au and use the promo code boardworld when checking out.

Balmoral Boards (Narrabeen) and One Track Mind (Crows Nest) are also excellent stores. Ditto, let them know you are from Boardworld and I'm sure they will look after you.

I'd highly recommend buying the board in Australia before you go. It will be cheaper overall and you won't have to waste time shopping around for the right board. Plus your warranty will be covered in Australia.

Since you're looking for a versatile board, you might want to look for a board with a hybrid camber profile. Do you understand how rocker, camber, and hybrids work? i.e. how they affect the ride?
