Hey all!

Thought i'd put this up here and chase up some advice from all of you as right now i'm somewhat clueless as to what I want to do. I've booked a christmas holiday to do a solo trip to canada from the 24th of december through to the 8th of jan and all I want to do is 2 things:

1. watch a Canucks game!
2. snowboard until my legs are like jelly and then snowboard some more!

I've got friends in whistler that i want to coincide the trip with, so I was initially thinking:
24th dec - 1st jan: whistler
1st jan - 3rd jan: vancouver
3rd jan - 7th jan: banff
8th back to vancouver then fly home

The only thing is that really only leaves me with 3 (possibly 4 if i board the last day then bus it back to calgary in the afternoon of the 7th) days in Banff, which i'm kinda concerned isn't enough..

Also, any tips/recommendations for places to go would be awesome :D

I'm not sure exactly how to help you, except to say that I've ridden sunshine village in Banff and stayed at the youth hostel and it was ace

and Go Flames, go! haha

Welcome to Boardworld, Stockee! cool smile

Just a few things to keep in mind:

1. Travelling from resort to resort wastes days. That means less riding.
2. You have friends in Whistler and it's one of the best resorts in North America.
3. Whistler is a two hour bus ride from Vancouver. No wasted days.
4. There is more terrain on Whistler and Blackcomb than you could possibly see in a whole season.

My point is, why are you going to Banff? I know it's great over there but if snowboarding as much as possible is your priority, why waste days travelling? Keep it simple, save money (on travel and lift passes), stay with your friends, and ride the awesomeness that is Whistler Blackcomb. It's so easy to pop over to Vancouver for an evening hockey game, you won't even miss a day on the snow.

Should also point out that the days you've got planned for whistler are the busiest days of the season - 3rd to the 7th will be significantly quieter with much smaller lift lines.

Alright, i've booked 2 weeks in Whistler and i'm pumped!! I was kind of concerned that staying in the one place for so long would get a little repetitive, but i'm only an intermediate rider and thats probably stretching it, so 2 weeks will be plenty of time to work my way up to harder trails..

Cheers guys, much appreciated :D

I think you made the right choice, Stockee. This will be my fifth season over there and it's still not repetitive. You'll leave thinking two weeks wasn't enough.

Post in this thread before you leave: http://www.boardworld.com.au/forums/viewthread/3476/

It would be cool to catch up for a day at least, meet the Boardworld crew, and go for a shred.

Completely agree with Jeremy's post - even 2 weeks will leave you wanting more over there.

Mates of mine did a week last season and they were all saying they could have easily done a lot more. With last season being my 2nd over there I was still discovering new stuff constantly which you don't get in a lot of other resorts.
