Plus the GoPro HD HERO still does a great job for what it is anyway!!!!!!

Just curious why everyone is keen on the GoPro over the Contour. I can see they both have pros and cons, but I would have thought snowboarding was more compatible with the Contour's strengths? I'm in the market for a device like this, haven't made up my mind yet. Kinda seems like the gopro h2 is going to be a clear winner for image quality, although not sure about the specs of the Contour Plus.

I know some use them in the surf too. In that case the wave pressures are huge and need the gopro casing. Same for me for whitewater. But others, guess they can answer ur question

Yeah, the fact that ya can take it anywhere is the major plus with the GoPro!!!!!

Also havin a spare battery that ya can change over is a major plus over the Contour!!!!!

I was in the same boat as you Mud, and I really wanted the Contour, but it was mainly due to the hatred of the GoPro's looks!!!!!

Once I got over that, I was glad that I went with the Ugly Box!!!!!!

another n00b question; do they have some kind of built-in image stabilisation?

the IQ out of the go pro was what got me over the line, even tho its ugly the IQ compared to the contour i personally thought it was better
