Ditto smile

My wife was there recently but not during winter..

The cost of living there is UNBELIEVABLY cheap, so low food and transport costs means this would be a low cost destination...

I have been to Seoul, in the winter in fact, and was intending on getting out there and riding for a day, but decided against it.

Now this was a few years back, from what I recall there were buses that picked up in downtown and took the trip up to the nearby resorts. There's a couple within an hour or so of the city, and there's stuff further away, around 2-3 hours. Yeah, real specific, sorry I don't have any more detailed information. The crowds at the resorts seemed pretty intense.

If you want 보신탕, I can point you in the right direction, though.

condition wise
better than Australia but you would rather go Japan.

price wise
cheaper than Japan overall but its dependant on how luxurious you want to go

Resorts
heard many are fairly close to major cities = busy weekends

consensus for Korea is you go there for the experience/culture of Korea as opposed to Japan (cause japow is more consistent/better condition..thru my research **havent been before just researched** thus far)
will be heading there within the next couple of years regardless

I would be keen to do another Japan or Korea trip in the near future (2012/2013 winter) depending how this trip goes and how my finances are post Japan this Feb lol.
