Not too sure if I can get a decent one for around that much but I was wondering if anyone knows if I can.

I have a Sony Cybershot W350 (it's a point and shoot) but I can't really change the settings as much as a DSLR.

i would say no unless you go 2nd hand or refurbished

Fair enough lol I guess I'm going to have to save up quite a bit of $$$ for a decent one

The Canon Powershot series have manual controls, haven't used them but they sound alright. Have also used a G11 a couple of times and that was very nice for a quality compact camera - might be a little pricier than $300 though I think.
