Hey guys, I think I've well and truly destroyed my camera. The lense/zoom was stuck all the way out and when I would try to turn it on the green light would show, it would make a couple of normal noises, the screen would stay black, and nothing would happen. I left it like that for quite awhile and then in a moment of complete stupidity I thought it would be a good idea to face the lense against a table and apply a lot of pressure. I was hoping I could push it back into place and it would magically work again. What actually happened though was the zoom is stuck about half way and the tip of the lense is flopping around further inside the camera. Is it time for a new camera or is there some hope it can be brought back to life? It's super annoying cause it's relatively new and was over $300. It's the Casio EX-FC150.

I'll see if I can find my old camera to post some photos of it...

Thanks for any advice, but I think it's time is up downer

You can sort of make out how the lense has shifted and sunk further in in the last shot compared to the 2nd. It's basically pretty loose.

Take it to a camera shop. They might be able to give you a quote to repair...

Good luck mate!

take it to a dealer and don't mention the bashing it into the table part. or maybe there's no warranty? if so, then it's a nice paperweight. I can get that camera for just over $100 here in Japan, if you want me to ship you one.

Go into a camera shop and ask to look at the same camera!!!!!

Tell the shop assistant to look behind them real quick, and at that very moment ya swap the bunged up camera for the brand new one while they look away!!!!!

When the assistant turns back around, ya can point out the defects and let them know that ya wont be spendin ya money on such a poor quality product, and walk out of the store shakin ya head, mumbling how ya will never return to this establishment ever again, out aloud!!!!!

Or,

Just buy a new one!!!!! hmmm

Thanks for the advice guys.

Will suss out my warranty options but I'd say I have little chance of getting anywhere with it.

Just over $100 in Japan is very cheap Gamblor! I really like the Canon s95 so wouldn't mind getting it. But for that price I may take you up on that. I really loved how rapid the Casio could take photos for action sports - 40 frames per sec at 9mp! For snowboarding it was actually too fast, I used to put it down to 15 frames.

could be worth taking apart the body and cleaning the lens mechanism, I had a camera that did that and a little grain of sand made all movement sieze! back together it worked a treat.. probably only do this when the warranty path falls through!
