I still cant find much about this on the net but what happens if you use parrafin/candle wax for your board.
Will it stuff it up or just slow it down?
Quick search found this:
Being that I have a chemistry background I think I can shed some light here...
Yes you can use candle wax and it will work to a point.
But all you really need is standard "Parrafin" wax. That is the wax that is primarily used for canning etc.It is thicker than candle wax and yes Parrafin wax has been used in the ski industry for decades now and it is the wax that you will find in your local snowboard shop.
The snowboard wax you buy is parrafin wax by nature. The only difference is they cut the primary base by 5% for Temperature purposes (yellow for one temp, red for another) but it is parrafin wax. The only reason they produce it is to make money...but its no secret by any means.
SO! Bascially what I am saying is forget the overpriced yellow/red wax one would buy at a snowboard/ski shop and forget the candle wax completely..Run to your grocery store and buy "Gulf Wax" which is parrafin wax and you will be fine. It even says right on the box you can use it for ski/snowboards.
