I thought I’d start a bit of a controversial thread on Cannabis. It seems the world is starting to become more relaxed towards the plant and its uses. There is still a long way to go though.

Not that I partake in smoking nearly as much as i used to in my early 20’s and late teens, though I’m still partial to a “toke” once every month or two these days after not smoking for 3-4 years recently.  These days I see places like Colorado, Alaska, Washington State, Canada, Spain, The Netherlands and more recently Uruguay have all taken positive steps forward in the matter by legalising medical and recreational pot.

The Colorado government cleared $177m in taxes for just one month in April!

In Australia, the Victorian government has broken the chains and will now, in 2017 be able to prescribe medical cannabis. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-04-12/victoria-becomes-first-state-to-legalise-medicinal-cannabis/7321152

Personally I’d love to see the plant legalised, taxed and regualted for recreational and medical use. It could open up a whole new world to jobs, getting the country out of debt, less alcohol fueled violence and not to mention the 1001 uses for hemp.

My question for you guys is, do you condone usage, Recreational or medical?  Do you smoke? If so how much and your preferred smoking device, if it became legal would you start smoking if you didn’t and any general overall thoughts on the more recent cannabis related events around the globe.

The war on the plant is and has always been a war on the people.

Peace.

I support the legalisation of marijuana for medical and recreational use. thumbsup

I commend those countries, states, and cities around the world that have already done so.

Aaron, by the way, Canada is legalising recreational use country-wide in 2017. Link

I support its decriminalisation and the use of it for medical things.

Only a recent addition to the cannabis community, never smoked back home but since being in canada where it is highly available and almost encouraged by people my age (mid 20’s) I found myself smoking quite regularly. I started off mainly for medicinal purposes (severe back pain) but afterwards began to enjoy the recreational side of things too

Joints are my preffered method. And i believe it should be legalised for recreational and medicinal use..

I found this website useful for finding different strains and their effectiveness for different illnesses also notes effects and strengths of different strains. Check it out.

Peace.

Good find OG!

I also found the same living in Whistler. I hadn’t smoked for 3 years prior to moving to Canada, but once there. i got re-introduced to the herb and the proclaimed BC Bud.

That kind of re-ignited (excuse the pun) my love affair, only this time round i guess you could say i had a little more respect for it, which may sound funny, but got me more of a high feeling than a full blown “im too stoned to move, think or speak” feeling.

After smoking bongs for a number of years, i turned to joints (mixing with tobacco) and more recently smoking through a glass pipe (no tobacco). I smoked cigarettes for a number of years as well, thus contributing to mixing green and brown. I haven’t smoked tobacco for 5-6 years.

These days I’m very health conscious, especially since i surf nearly every day, which requires a lot of cardiovascular endurance, therefore ill only smoke straight herb, as it has minimal effects on the respiratory system. So I’ve read.

Does anyone else smoke straight or do they mix??

What about exercise and keeping fit?

I’ve never been a tobacco smoker, but I have heard along the same lines that its definately a better option straight up as opposed to mixed. I do change between glass pipe (one hitter) and joints but but predominately just joints.

I was smoking quite heavily and still getting up the mountain a fair bit during winter, lately I have been hiking and skating though and i dont find it affects my cardio health much at all.

YES! @Stellvadore!

The website that was mentioned above by @OptimusGrime is a great insight with a lot of educated content about the plant. I have had a read over a few of their articles and its great. It what SHOULD be taught to young groms instead of just general bashing against cannabis.

This has heaps of good stuff for newbies or people looking to get back on the wagon.

I have been a smoker for more then 40 years and still smile and smoke daily. I am not pro or con. But here are some facts, Your not going to see many cases of lung cancer because the amount smoke on a daily basis is minimal. What you don,t hear about is the other cancers involved. In 2012 I spent two weeks with a World known Surgent. He is Australian and specialise in ear nose and throat. I will not post his name on here but if you want his name just email me. He told me that over the last decade his patient have change from Tobacco smokers to Pot smokers. Where 10 years ago He never had a case from the pot smoking group. Pot is not a pain killer. If I have pain I take a penodole. it work way better and no side effects. You will hear testimonies from elderly stating it relieve there severe pain. This is coming from a group which have stigmatised the smoking of pot all there life and so are defending there use has medical which just bullshit. It does promote and stimulate eating but those effect wan over months if used on a daily basis. When doctors come out and are pro. I am concern because I really feel that these doctor has not really did there research and are jump on the band wagon for self-promotion. So do not assume there is no medical heath concern with smoking pot. There is.
