Highlights
Fly direct to the snow - 2009 sees the return of QantasLink flights to Hotham, the southern hemisphere’s only alpine resort based airport, giving guests the opportunity to skip city traffic and escape to Australia’s powder capital, maximising precious holiday time. QantasLink flies direct from Sydney with connecting flights to all other Australian capital cities. Flights commence 3 July and run until 6 September. Flights start from $199 ex-Sydney one way. See http://www.qantas.com for bookings and full schedule.
Getting greener - As a part of Hotham’s ongoing commitment to ensuring continued environmental sustainability, the resort implemented a significant revegetation project in Heavenly Valley throughout Summer. The project involved planting more than 32,000 native plants (a mix of grasses and shrubs) and forms part of Hotham’s best practice environmental plan, which also includes the use of 100% green power for all snowmaking operations. Hotham is also the first ski resort in the world to make snow from recycled water. This commenced last season with the completion of the $8.36 million water recycling project.
Bigger and better at the Big D Kids Snowzone - Hotham is the ideal destination to introduce the little ones to the alpine environment - and it will be even better this year following the completion of a two-year, $300,000 improvement to the Kids Snowzone. The Kids Snowzone offers ski programs (for kids 3yrs and up), snowboarding programs (for kids 7 -14 yrs), day care facilities (for kids 3 months to 5 years), a café, retail outlet and it’s the home of Hotham’s lovable snowdragon, Harry and his live stage show.
Fireworks! - Hotham will illuminate the winter sky during select weekends over the season with a spectacular free display of fireworks (weather dependent). For dates, visit http://www.hotham.com.au
Après Evenings - Every Tuesday during July and August, Hotham’s Après Evenings will feature activities such as wine tastings, schnapps appreciation, makeup nights and trivia - ensuring fun for all once the sun goes down.
